Mackinac Grand Tour

Friday, October 1
6:00 am CDT (7:00 am EDT) Depart from Lakeside Commons (by ONB on N. Green River Rd)

Our group will depart from Evansville and settle in for a wonderful week.
We’ll stop for breaks and lunch as we travel north.

Dinner is included in the hotel.

Saturday, October 2
Breakfast is included in the hotel.

9:00 am Depart from the hotel.
We’ll spend the day at The Henry Ford.
Admission to The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and Greenfield Village is included along with ”fun money” that you may use for lunch.
We’ll visit the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House and Visitor Center. *

Overnight: DoubleTree by Hilton Detroit Dearborn (B, L, D)

Sunday, October 3
Breakfast is included in the hotel.

8:00 am Departing from the Detroit area this morning, we’ll continue our journey to Michigan’s “Little Bavaria” – Frankenmuth.

10:45 am We’ll start our visit here with “pretzel rolling” - make your own!

Lunch is on your own in one of several nearby eateries.

1:30 pm Guided tour of Frankenmuth.

While in Frankenmuth you’ll find shops, fudge and Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas Store.

6:15 pm After hearing the Glockenspiel signal 6:00 pm, we’ll enjoy the Family Style Chicken and Kasseler Rippchen Dinner at Bavarian Inn.  

It’s a Frankenmuth tradition!

Monday, October 4
Oma’s Breakfast Buffet” starts our day.

8:00 am Depart from Frankenmuth.

Arriving in Mackinaw City, you can find a place to eat lunch and enjoy the views of the bridge and see Mackinac Island and Grand Hotel in the distance.

2:30 pm After lunch we’ll take our Ferry to Mackinac Island.

Upon arrival on Mackinac Island, we will take our horse-drawn wagon ride to the Grand Hotel, where we will be greeted by the hotel staff and given a packet of information about the hotel.

Dinner is included at Grand Hotel.

Please note the Dress Code for Evening Attire:
Coat and tie for gentlemen and dresses, skirts, blouses, dress sweaters and dress slacks for ladies are required attire in public areas of the hotel after 6:00 pm.
If you don’t want to dress up for the evening, offsite dining options are available with a credit included in your Grand Hotel stay. More information is available by visiting the hotel’s website or calling Lifestyle Tours.

After dinner, you can enjoy the activities of the hotel or sit on the porch and watch the waters of the Straits of Mackinac, the boats, and the Mackinac Bridge.

Tuesday, October 5
Breakfast is included at Grand Hotel.
Today you are on your own to explore Mackinac Island. Bicycles are available for rent if you would like to ride around the island. “Downtown” Mackinac Island, the area by the docks, is a short walk or carriage ride away from the Hotel. That area is filled with shops and restaurants.

Dinner is included this evening at the Grand Hotel.

Wednesday, October 6
Breakfast is included at Grand Hotel.

8:30 am Depart from Grand Hotel and take our wagon to the ferry dock.

9:00 am Ferry to St. Ignace, where we will meet our motorcoach.

Our trip starts by crossing the Mackinac Bridge.

Riding to Holland we’ll stop for lunch.

Dinner is at Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant on Lake Macatawa. *

After dinner, we’ll take the short ride to Holland State Park on Lake Michigan. Here by Big Red Lighthouse, we can (hopefully) watch the sunset.

Thursday, October 7
Breakfast is included in the Hampton Inn.

A stop at the DeKlomp Wooden Shoe & Delft Factory completes our Holland visit. Here you can see the artists at work and pick up souvenirs.

As we travel, we can enjoy memories of fun and new friends. 

This evening we return to Evansville (B)
